PATIKUL, SULU — 200 civilian volunteers compose the first batch of the Basic Citizen Military Training (BCMT) under the 9th Regional Community Defense Group in Brgy Taglibi morning of 12 December 2020.

Lieutenant Colonel Andres A Soriano, Commanding Officer of the 906th Community Defense Center, officially opened the training that will equip the reservists with skills that will enable them to sustain peace.

Retirees and Reservist Affairs Assistant Division Commander Colonel Giovanni T Franza gave an inspiring speech as the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the Opening Ceremony of the BMT.

The new recruits said they wanted to become an Army Reservist because they no longer want war and they want to be instruments of peace in their community.

Most of these reservists are already part of the Barangay Peace Action Team. This force is a different batch from the regular recruit quota of the 11th Infantry Division.

1102nd Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier General Ignatius N Patrimonio, 32nd Infantry Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Ralph De Mesa, 45th Infantry Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Ruben Guinolbay and Patikul Mayor Kabir Hayudini were also present during the opening of the first BCMT in Patikul, Sulu.

Patikul is a known conflict area for many years. The first batch of the Army Reservist in Patikul, which will compose the 906th Ready Reserve Battalion Task Force, will give significant contribution in the municipality’s peace and development.
