8 former rebels receive carpentry tools from DTI

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, December 14 (PIA) - At least eight Former Rebels (FRs) under the custody and care of the 86th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army based in Jones town received carpentry tools from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Isabela.

The provision of said tools is under the DTI’s Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) in support to Executive Order No. 70 or the whole of nation approach to end local Communist armed conflict of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The giving of assistance to FRs of government agencies is also part of government-initiated programs under poverty reduction, livelihood and employment cluster prior to their return to mainstream society and help them reconstruct their identities as part of their respective communities.

The awarding of the carpentry tools which was held on December 1 at 86th IB headquarters at Barangay Uno, Jones, Isabela was led by DTI Isabela Business Development Division chief Leonor Lee Lopez and Lt. Col. Ali Alejo, commanding officer of 86IB.

Alejo expressed his gratitude to DTI Isabela for the support extended to Former Rebels who have surrendered to the folds of law.

He urged other rebels to surrender and avail the benefits that are accorded by the government and live a peaceful and normal life. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
