Philippine National Police and JTF-NCR captured Communist-Terrorist Group Leaders of the Metro Manila Regional Party Committee after a series of simultaneous service of search warrants and based on the information from civilian on December 10, 2020. the MMRPC is the NPA Unit tasked to carry out NPA atrocities in Metro Manila.

The CIDG, PNP confirmed that the arrested personalities were the Secretary MMRPC and members of Special Operations Group (SOG) of the CPP-NPA operating in NCR who were equipped with high-powered firearms and other deadly weapons.

The said operation resulted to the arrest of the following personalities:

1. Rodrigo Esparago y Santos- Secretary, MMRPC, for Violation of RA 10591-Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and for violation of Republic Act 9516- Law on Explosives);
2. Lady Ann Salem y de Leon, Secretary, RYSB, MMRPC for Violation of RA 10591-Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and for violation of Republic Act 9516- Law on Explosives);
3. Joel Demate y Quitor- Deputy Secretary, MMRPC and Head, ROD, MMRPC for Violation of RA 10591- Comprehensive Firearms and Ammuniton Regulation Act;
4. Dennise Velasco y Aquino- Secretary, Kagawaran ng Rehiyon sa Edukasyon (KARED), MMRPC for Violation of RA 10591- Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act;
5. Marc Ryan Cruz y Gonzales-RTUB Secretary, MMRPC for violation of RA 10591-Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.;
6. Jaymie Gregorio-Secretary, DisCom PAMANA for violation of RA 10591-Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.; and
7. Romina Raiselle Lindawan Astudillo – Deputy Secretary, RTUB, MMRPC for violation of RA 10591-Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

They were arrested living on high end condominium units and exclusive subdivisions which showed the indulgence of wealthy lifestyle of these ranking CPP-NPA members. The firearms recovered from their possession also revealed MMRPC’s involvement in gun trafficking. It was also learned during their arrest that Lady Ann Salem is the mistress of MMRPC Secretary Rodrigo Esparago. Esparago is married to Lana Linaban, a former staff of Bayan Muna and currently with Gabriela National. LInaban was also once the National Head of League of Filipino Students.

Aside from the recovery of several firearms; hand grenades electronic devices and cash amounting to an estimated P 1.2 million were also found in their possession.

The arrested personalities are now under the custody of the PNP for documentation and filing of appropriate charges.
