BALER, Aurora-At least Sixty-six supporters and contacts of the communist rebel movement’s and Eleven lie-low of the New People’s Army (NPA) of Aurora Provincial Committee surrendered to government forces in the Barangays of Dikapinisan and Dimanayat, both in the coastal towns of San Luis, Aurora on Thursday.

In a statement on Friday, December 11, 2020 the Army’s 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion commander, Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P. Rubio said that combined elements of the Community Support Program (CSP) Charlie Company, 91IB under First Lieutenant Carlo Omayon Philippine Army and CSP team led by First Lieutenant Candidato S. Paduman Philippine Army together with San Luis Municipal Police Station of the Aurora Police provincial office and other friendly forces facilitated the voluntary surrender of the Seventy-seven individuals at the said Barangays.

LtCol. Rubio said that the voluntary surrender of said personalities will reduce the resource generation of the armed group by more or less Php8,000.00 and ten sacks of rice on a monthly basis.

The said troops also facilitated the voluntary surrender of eleven lie-low Communist CNTs under Aurora PCOM and withdrawal of support of fifty-two mass supporters/contacts to CPP/NPA/NDF at Barangay Dimanayat, and Brgy Dikapinisan both of San Luis, Aurora.

“The withdrawal of support of NPA mass supporters and contacts to CPP/NPA/NDF and surrender of lie-low NPAs manifest the effective implementation of Provincial Task Force (PTF) and Municipal Task Force (MTF) to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC). The remnants of KLG SIERRA MADRE are now on the run evading the operating troops due to loss of their supporters, couriers, and contacts. It also affects their logistical and recovery efforts due to influx of surrenderees and sustained combat operations by the military and PNP in the area,” LtCol. Rubio said.

San Luis Mayor Ariel de Jesus said that his office is open day and night once needed by his town mates in terms of services to the public.

“Your mass surrender indicates that you already withdrawing the CPP-NPA-NDF. I already requested for the concreting of roads in your place as it will reduce poverty and your travel will be faster dealing with your livelihood in agriculture, fisheries, the efficient delivery of basic services among others,” de Jesus said.

He encouraged everyone to be united and support the EO 70 of President Duterte to end insurgency in this town.

The activity was also witnessed by personnel of San Luis Municipal Station of the Aurora Police Provincial Office, local officials. Afterwhich, 1st Lt. Omayon led the pledge of support to the government and followed by burning of NPA flag, Peace Rally and giving of food packs.
