GINGOOG CITY, Misamis Oriental, August 9 - The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Misamis Orienal led Ms Marigold Cherie Garrido conducted a training induction program for agri food security at Sitio Moya, Brgy Eureka here last July 30.
On the same day, TESDA also conducted onsite assessment for a communal garden to be spearheaded by the Kinoguitan National School (KNAS) through Agrifood Production Program and the IP training and trading hub.
Provincial Director Almer Masillones of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Misamis Oriental, Provincial Head Jose Errol Natividad of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Misamis Oriental, Engr. Chona Labaon, of the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP)-Misamis Oriental, and Mr. Allan Mandokita, Indigenous People Mandatory Representatives (IPMR) of Gingoog City were present during the said program.
The training is under auspices of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC)-10. PRLEC is chaired by TESDA-10
TESDA commited to conduct skills training cum production program in producing organic fertilizers, organic vegetables, and organic concoction and extracts for the indigenous people (IP) and former rebels (FRs) for 27 days using face-to-face training delivery mode consideng the trainees’ environment and level of education.
This course is arranged in such a way that there is continuity in learning from the preparation of the soil through the production of organic fertilizer, to planting and production of organic vegetables, then production of organic concoction and extracts to be used in tending the organic vegetables. And while the vegetables are growing, the FRs and IPs will then be taught how to raise organically-grown free-range chicken using indigenous materials as chicken houses.
Meanwhile, the barangay folks expressed their gratitude to the never-ending support provided by the government agencies.
In his statement, Lt. Col. Ricky L Canatoy said, “this shows that our government is genuine in providing and delivering its services to the citizens of this country. We hope that the beneficiaries will take this as opportunity to train, learn and eventually, apply it because this can be their stepping stone for a brighter future.” (58IB)
