Posted to Kalinaw News (Jun 22, 2020): NPA couple reunites with daughter on Father’s Day (By 4th Infantry Division)
CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental. June 22 – Former New People’s Army couple who recently surrendered to the 58th Infantry (Dimalulupig) Battalion reunited with their daughter and memorably celebrates Father’s Day at 8th Infantry Battalion Headquarters, Impasugong, Bukidnon yesterday. The reunion was made possible through the joint efforts of the two battalions.
According to the couple, hunger, hardships and aggravating circumstances are the minor reasons of their turning back to the folds of law. The longingness to see and be with their daughter who was away from them for almost three years prompted them to surrender.
Alias Dina, the mother, revealed earlier that right after giving birth to the child, she and her husband immediately left her to alias Jane and went back directly to the struggling armed component of the communist terrorist with a heavy heart. Since then, the couple experienced an emotional anguish and has never seen their child not until today, after almost three years of being away from their beloved daughter. Moreso, while on the verge of fighting against the government forces, the couple was not allowed to see and visit their child amidst several requests that compels them to surrender.
(As a father, it is with great pleasure that eventually I am now with our daughter, especially on the celebration of Father’s Day. My heartfelt thanks to the leaders of 58IB and 8IB for their great help to us couple.)
(I am profoundly grateful that this couple eventually decided to surrender and be reunited with their family. To all New People’s Army who deemed to sacrifice for wrong motives, I urge you to surrender. I will assure you of your safety and the Army’s support for a new life.)
(To our brothers and sisters who are still supporting the armed struggle against the government, my heartfelt pleading to all of you to come and lay down your arms. It has been proven that your ideologies not only ruins government endeavor for lasting peace and development but also break family ties. The government is always ready to assist and extend all the necessary assistance for a new beginning.)
For the meantime, the couple with their reunited daughter will be in the custody of 58IB while awaiting for the processing of intended Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program benefits for the surrenderees.
