SAN JOSE, Antique, June 24 (PIA) - - The Antique Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) warmly welcomed the 11 former rebels who have decided to return to the government.
In a recent program at the Antiaue Police Provincial Office, Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao, chairperson of the Task Force, welcomed the returnees with assurance of support for them to start a new and peaceful life.
Police Provincial Director Col Roy B. Parena also assured the former rebels of the police' support foe them to start anew.
He said that the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police are there not to stage war but to facilitate development.
He encouraged those who have not returned yet to take the courage while the government is offering them opportunities to return to the folds of the law.
The surrender of 11 confirmed members of the New People’s Army on June 23, 2020, 7:00 o'clock in the morning at Poblacion, Culasi, Antique was a collective operation of ISO division and RIU 6 of PNP Intelligence Group, DID of Eastern Police District, RID of NCRPO, PIU of Antique PPO, CIDG-Antique, Culasi MPS and 61st IB, Philippine Army.
The police reported that the concerted efforts on intelligence gathering and coordination through PTF-ELCAC Antique and other concerned members were made days prior to the surrender of said NPA members.
Firearms recovered from them are two Shotgun, one caliber 45 pistol, three grenade, five rifle grenades, two 40mm ammunition, nine pieces 12 shotshell, one magazine for pistol cal. 45 and seven rounds of cal 45 ammunition.
Peace and Peace and Order and Public Safety Consultant Margie L. Gadian said she is happy to receive them.
Gadian said that the former rebels made a right decision not only for themselves but for the future of their families as well.
