A policeman was killed while three others were wounded in an encounter with suspected New People’s Army rebels in Jovellar town, Albay on Wednesday.
Captain Millard Bongalon, chief of the Jovellar police, said members of the 1st Albay Provincial Mobile Force Company have just finished their internal security operations and were on their way to their base camp when fired upon by around 15 suspected rebels in the remote barangay of San Isidro at 5:20 a.m.
Killed in the attack was Patrolman Emerson Belmonte. Wounded were Corporal Marlon Bertral, Patrolmen Roy Resureccion, and John Mark Paz.
