Kalinaw News Former MILF commander submitted himself to 602nd Brigade

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – The former commander of Moro Islamic Liberation Front, Commander Buto Sanday, voluntarily submitted himself to the Joint Task Force Central’s 602nd Infantry Brigade on Tuesday, June 16, in Camp Lucero, Carmen, North Cotabato.

Commander Sanday was welcomed with open arms by 602nd Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong; 90th Infantry Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Michael D. Maquilan; and Pikit Mayor Sumulong K. Sultan.

Commander Sanday was involved in several armed conflicts and “rido” in the boundaries of Pagalungan, Maguindanao and Pikit, North Cotabato resulting to displacement of communities in the area.

Just recently, the leadership of Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces of MILF had terminated Commander Sanday from their ranks following his alleged involvement in several armed conflicts that affected the civilians.

One M16 A1 rifle was turned over by Commander Sanday as his gesture of sincerity of his action and in support to the government’s effort towards peace, progress, and development.

“This accomplishment is part of the Brigade’s sincere effort to bring peace and development in its area of operation. The 602nd Brigade has once again demonstrated the essence of working together with MILF, CCCH, AHJAG and other stakeholders in achieving the desired end state with minimal resources and damage to private property,” said Brig. Gen. Capulong.

Maj. Gen. Diosdado C. Carreon, Commander of 6th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Central, said that he welcomed Commander Sanday’s returning to the government fold for his action can significantly improve the security situation to ultimately benefit the people in in Pikit and Pagalungan towns.
