Militant groups in Negros Occidental trooped to the Fountain of Justice in Bacolod City on Saturday to join the “ Global Day of Protest Against the U nited States war on Iran .”

Around 40 protesters from Bagong Alyansang Makabayan Negros and its allied organizations showed their support for the no war in Iran campaign as tensions are still high after the US assassinated Iran’s top military commander in Iraq weeks ago.

The death of the Iranian top military general was an attempt to divert the attention of the world from the ongoing impeachment hearing against US President Donald Trump, Ereneo Longinos, Bayan Negros spokesman , said.

“In the midst of the worsening economic crisis of the US, Trump treacherously attacked Iran, which, apart from being a long-standing adversary of the Americans , has a massive amount of oil reserves and other natural resources that could save the dying economy of the US , ” he said.

Rey Alburo, Karapatan Negros spokesperson , said this war of aggression perpetrated by the US military has resulted in numerous counts of human rights violations .

“ The US has been the number one terrorist in the world. Instead of protecting its colonies, the US wages a war of aggression to gain control and dominance and maintain its political and economic hegemony in the world… this will only bring further adversities to the people ,” he said.

For Berlita Ante, Kadamay Negros spokesperson, thousands of overseas F ilipino workers will be affected by this aggression of the USA.

“Not only OFWs in Iran but the entire Middle East will suffer and that includes their families here in the country who are dependent on the remittances they are sending ,” she added.*
