From ABS-CBN (Nov 1, 2019): Peace adviser warns vs 'posers' eyeing MNLF, OIC talks
Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. on Friday denied his office authorized individuals or organizations in holding a supposed forum on peace process and federalism for members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Zamboanga City.
According to Galvez, his office received reports on Oct. 30 that certain people "posing as representatives of the national government were planning to conduct" a peace forum.
"To set the record straight, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) has not authorized any of these personalities and/or their organizations to carry out such activity," Galvez said in a statement.
"The people behind this so-called peace forum in Zamboanga City are clearly misrepresenting the Philippine Government, the OIC and the MNLF, as stated in their letter request addressed to the City Government of Zamboanga."
Galvez called on Zamboanga City Mayor Isabelle Climaco-Salazar to look into the matter.
He also advised the "posers" to refrain from issuing statements that will derail the current peace efforts of the government.
President Rodrigo Duterte had said he has hopes to reach an agreement with MNLF founding chair Nur Misuari.
Misuari is a former governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the entity superseded by the Bangsamoro region.
