A total of 97 police personnel from the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO-7) in Central Visayas are currently undergoing training on Philippine National Police (PNP) Internal Security Operations or PISO at the 3rd Infantry “Spearhead” Division (3ID) Training School in Capiz.

Negros Oriental provincial police director, Col. Raul Tacaca confirmed Wednesday that those being trained are police personnel from the PNP’s Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) based in Sibonga, Cebu, which has a company deployed in this province.

Tacaca said he is expecting that after the training, some of the police officers who have completed the PISO training will be deployed to Negros Oriental because of the internal security problem here posed by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army.

A report from the 3ID said that the 97 PISO trainees were welcomed on Tuesday by 3ID officers and enlisted personnel during the opening ceremony graced by Maj. Gen. Dinoh Dolina, the 3rd Infantry Brigade commander and PRO-7 director Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas.

The training is part of the collaborative efforts of the Army and PNP in implementing internal security operations through the expanded cross-trained training of more or less 30 to 45 days.

It is designed to train and equip PNP personnel with the right attitude, knowledge, skills, and capability on public safety in order to secure the people against criminality, violence, terrorism and threats of insurgency, the 3ID said.

“As partner agency in securing the people against any form of threat and violence, sharing of knowledge between the Army and PNP is necessary for us to come up with an effective and resilient inter-agency effort in addressing and resolving peace and security concerns in the region,” Dolina was said.

Capt. Cenon Pancito III, chief of the 3ID’s Public Affairs Office, said that last May 3, a total of 317 police personnel from PRO-6 also trained at the 3ID Training School on PNP Basic Internal Security Course.

These police personnel were trained by 25 Community Support Program instructors from 3ID.
