The Joint Working Group of Religious Leaders for Peace (TWGRLP) conducted its " 3rd Dialogue of Religious Leaders in Pursuit of Peace in a Pluralistic Society " held at Hotel Rembrandt, Quezon City on February 13 - 14, 2018 with financial assistance from Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (CHD).
The dialogue was participated by Committee on Da'wah for Non - Muslim Affairs of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), Archdiocese of Cotabato, National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP), Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC), Uniharmony Partners of Manila, Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Protestant Church, and the Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
The forum was graced by his Excellency Ambassador Franz Jessen of European Union, and the Grand Mufti of Bangsamoro Sheik Abuhuraira Udasan.
Mufti Abuhuraira in his message emphasized the importance of Unity and Tolerance regardless of ethnicity and faith.
He also stated, " Islam is association, and not isolation. Islam is accommodation, and not discrimination nor marginalization ".
Ambassador Jessen for his part reiterated his unwavering support to the group of religious leaders especially to the peace initiative of Joint Working Group of Religious Leaders for Peace (JWGRLP).
Uz. Abdulhadie Gumander of the MILF Da'wah Committee on Non - Muslim Affairs reminded that their creation is anchored on the following objectives, vis a vis: Co – existence, and restoration of harmonious relationship between Muslims and Non - Muslims; bridging societal divides on religion; knowing and defending the rights of Christians, and Non - Muslims alike; and develop humanitarian dialogue skills.
In his closing statement, he called for the support for the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) considering that there are no provisions that violate the rights of any religion whatsoever, and its passage is an antidote to violent religious extremism.
The group affirmed their unconditional support to the GPH - MILF peace process, and committed to work together to address the centuries - old biases, and prejudices from both parties, as well as the challenges on countering violent extremism.
