TEMPEST WIND  |  Anti-Terror exercise centered on hijacking

CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – The anti-terror exercise dubbed “Tempest Wind” had a successful run at Clark Air Base in Pampanga.

In a press briefing held at Camp Gen Emilio Aguinaldo, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim laid out the details of the exercise that centered on the response of authorities on an airplane hijacking scenario.

According to DND spokesman Director Arsenio Andolong, they did not have media cover the event, which started September 20 and lasted for three (3) days, to prevent the enemy to get any information or tactics employed during the exercise.

Andolong added that a total of 1,200 participated in the exercise coming from different branches/agencies of the government like thw Philippine National Police and Aviation Secruity Grop.

The exercise aimed to create a realistic scenario and how authorities would resolve a plane jacking situation, where the lives of hostages are at stake. AES/ALS
