From the Sun Star-Zamboanga (Sep 26): BIFF leader arrested in Midsayap, North Cotabato

GOVERNMENT forces have arrested a leader cum gun supplier of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and seized guns and bomb-making components in North Cotabato, top military officials announced on Tuesday, September 26.
 
Arrested was BIFF Commander Muslimin Ladtugan alias "Mus," who also supplies firearms to the rebel group, according to Major General Arnel Dela Vega, Joint Task Force Central commander.
 
Dela Vega said Ladtugan was arrested by the troops of the Army’s 34th Infantry Battalion around 8:15 a.m., Monday, September 25, in the village of Nabalawag, Midsayap, North Cotabato.
 
Dela Vega said the troops seized from Ladtugan were one M-14 rifle, one M-16 rifle, one rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher, two caliber .45 pistols, and bomb-making components.
 
 He said that Ladtugan is the one who facilitates the transport of high-powered firearms and war materiel of the BIFF factions in Central Mindanao.
 
On September 19, operatives of the military intelligence have intercepted Ladtugan’s shipment of a 60-mm mortar in the village of Damablac, Talayan, Maguindanao.
 
Dela Vega said Ladtugan is the 4th division commander of the BIFF with operational base at Sitio Libal in the village of Nabalawag, Midsayap, North Cotabato.
 
He said they have intensified the security campaign to neutralize Islamic State for Iraq and Syria-inspired groups in Central Mindanao.
 
He said they are currently working alongside with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front to contain a BIFF faction under a certain Toraype in Maguindanao.
 
Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez, Jr., Western Mindanao Command chief, said combat and intelligence operations are continuously being intensified to defeat the terrorists who conduct nefarious activities in Central Mindanao.
