CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – The government is studying all possible scenarios on how hundreds of Daesh-Inspired Maute terrorist members from Mindanao and other countries were able to slip into Marawi.

According to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, they are still investigating how these Maute terrorist were able to enter Marawi unnoticed.

Initially, authorities thought the terror group only numbered around 250, but when the fighting raged on and the enemy did not seem to lessen in number, they came to concluded that they were fighting more terrorist than previously estimated.

Most of the Maute members came from Basilan, Sulu, Jolo, Indonesia and Malaysia

With this experience, Lorenzana assured the public that they would intensify their intelligence effort and technical capabality to prevent a repeat of the Marawi incident on other parts of the country.

As of the latest count, the government has registered 700 killed on the side of the enemy. AES/ALS
