In an effort to sustain the anti-radicalism advocacy in Sarangani Province and heighten initiatives to prevent violent extremism, the Provincial Government of Sarangani gathered various stakeholders to discuss how they will collaborate to keep the province away from the hands of those who espouse violence to advance their cause.
 The stakeholders meeting held at the Kasfala Hall in Provincial Capitol at Alabel, Sarangani Province on September was attended by representatives of line agencies, NGOs, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Ulama, Asatidz, Moro Islamic Liberation Front, Moro National Liberation Front and the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.

Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon of Sarangani shared with the participants the efforts of the provincial government in Anti-Radicalism and Anti-Illegal Drugs Advocacy which started in the last quarter of 2016.

The said advocacy, which enjoined support of the grassroots community leaders, was conducted in Maitum, Kiamba, Maasim, Alabel, Malapatan and Glan.

Thousands of constituents of the province were educated on the effects of illegal drugs and the danger brought by violent extremism.

The participants noted the importance of strengthening cooperation particularly from among the community members and sharing of information in preventing extremists to sow atrocities in Sarangani.

At present, the government troops continues to battle against ISIS-inspired terror groups in Marawi City since May 23, 2017.

The conflict has displaced hundreds of thousand residents of the only Islamic City of the country.

There have been various activities held in different parts of the country spearheaded by different institutions aimed at educating the public on preventing violent extremism.
