From the Philippine Information Agency (Oct 25): Dad positive about transfer of PAF 15th Strike Wing to Lumbia Airport
Cagayan de Oro City acting mayor expressed he is optimistic that the transfer of the 15th Strike Wing of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) from Sangley Point in Cavite to Lumbia Airport will be good for the city.
Officials of the 15th Strike Wing and Tactical Operations Group-10 paid a courtesy call on the acting mayor and presented plans and updates for such a development.
The transfer is in line with the intention to decongest the airfield in Manila and Southern Tagalog.
It was learned that the Department of National Defense (DND) has allocated P987,768,845.44 for the implementation of Phase 1 – Site Development and Construction of Billeting Facilities of the 15th Strike Wing, which is the primary attack unit of PAF.
According to reports, the facility will have new AW-109 attack helicopters, OV-10 attack planes, MG-520 attack helicopters and SF-260 ground-attack aircrafts.
Some 1,100 PAF employees will also be relocated to the city when the project is completed, said the acting mayor.
The visiting PAF officials were officially welcomed by Acting Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy Uy, with Councilors Ian Mark Nacaya, George Goking and Reuben Daba.
