Troopers from the 16th Infantry Battalion have successfully recovered four New People's Army (NPA) weapons during operations at Sitio Minanga, Barangay Lumutan, General Nakar, Quezon Thursday morning.

The operations took place at 11: 30 a.m., 2nd Infantry Division spokesperson Major Arnold Gasalatan said.

He said that government troopers were conducting security patrols at the area when a concerned citizen gave information about the NPA's firearm cache at Sitio Minanga.

The troops immediately proceeded to the area and successfully captured two M-16 automatic rifles, an M-14 rifle and one shotgun.

Newly-installed 2nd Infantry Division commander Brig. Gen. Romeo G. Gan lauded his men for the successful recovery of the weapons.

“We would like to thanks the people of Sitio Minanga, Barangay Lumutan, General Nakar, Quezon for their continuing support in giving information and I assure the people of Southern Tagalog that we will continue in clearing the interior barangays from the influence of the NPA so that Local Government Units can implement their programs and be able to provide basic services for the people,” he said.
