From the Philippine Star (Oct 22): Rebels kill 4 Army troopers in Samar
Suspected New People's Army (NPA) guerillas killed four Army troopers in an encounter in Gandara, Samar province on Sunday night. Major Harold Cabunoc, Army spokesperson, said the clash between the heavily-armed rebels and troops from the Army 8th Division's 43rd Infantry Battalion took place in Barangay Ramon at around 10 p.m. Cabunoc said that the soldiers were members of the 8th Infantry Division's "Bayanihan" peace and development teams....
