From the Sun Star-Zamboanga (Jul 14, 2023): Police arrest Abu Sayyaf Group member in Basilan
LAWMEN have arrested in a law enforcement operation a suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Basilan province, the police reported Friday, July 14, 2023.
Police Brigadier General Neil Alinsañgan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspected ASG member as Kumtaman Nusaman, 61.
Alinsañgan said Nusaman was arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of service of a warrant of arrest around 12:45 p.m. Thursday, July 13, in Tumahubong village, Sumisip, Basilan.
Alinsañgan said that Nusaman has a standing warrant of arrest issued by a court in Isabela City, Basilan for the crime of robbery with homicide with no recommended bail dated July 11, 2023.
He said Nusaman is one of the remaining ASG members based in Basilan province.
Nusaman was placed under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Basilan Provincial Field Office. (SunStar Zamboanga)
