From the Sun Star-Zamboanga (Jul 14, 2023): Retired cop killed, 2 others hurt in Basilan gun attack
A RETIRED policeman was killed while his wife and brother-in-law were wounded in a gun attack in Isabela City, Basilan province, the police reported Friday, July 14, 2023.
The Isabela City Police Station (ICPS) reported that the incident happened around 8:10 p.m. Thursday, July 13, in Upper Lanote village, Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.
The ICPS identified the fatality as Renie Tubo, 58. He was declared dead at the hospital by the attending physician.
Wounded were his wife, Patricia, and brother-in-law, Hariberto Diaz, 59.
Investigation showed the victims were having a conversation at the residence of Tubo when they were attacked by an unidentified gunman armed with high-powered firearm.
Tubo, before he retired from police service, has served as security escort of a former politician in Isabela City.
The ICPS continues the investigation to establish the identity of the suspect behind the incident. (SunStar Zamboanga)
