Posted to Kalinaw News (Mar 21, 2022): 325 Jasaan Residents Return Home Safely after Recent CTG Encounters
CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental- The Local Government Unit of Jasaan, in collaboration with the 58th Infantry Dimalulupig Battalion, held a Peace Dialogue with the residents of Sitio Cogon, Barangay Natubo, and Sitio Alangit, Barangay San Nicolas, Jasaan, on March 20, 2022.
It can be recalled that on March 18, 2022, a series of encounters occurred at Brgy Plaridel, Claveria, which is adjacent to the aforementioned barangays of Jasaan, resulting in the fatal death of three NPA rebels and the recovery of three high-powered firearms and other materiel.
The activity was led by Hon. Redentor Jardin, Mayor of Jasaan, Hon. Francisco Danilo, Brgy. Chairman of Natubo, and Hon. Roldan Mango, Brgy. Chairman of San Nicholas. Following the recent clash between government forces and Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs), Mayor Jardin and the 58IB reassured the public that they would be safe as they returned home in peace, removing the fear instilled by the CTGs.
“We assure you that you have nothing to worry about,” said Lt Col Ricky L. Canatoy, Commanding Officer of the 58th Infantry Battalion, “as your Army will continue to uphold our duty to ensure the safety and protection of every individual in the communities.” We will not allow these terrorists to disrupt your peaceful, normal lives. For the sake of their lives and to avoid an untimely death, I only hope that the remaining NPA rebels will change their minds and return to the folds of the law, abandoning the lies and deceptions implanted in their minds.
The LGU Jasaan provided food packs to 140 residents from Sitio Cogon and Sitio Alangit, as well as 185 residents from Brgy San Nicolas, who have all safely returned to their respective homes.
