CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental – Three NPA rebels killed in a recent encounter with the 58th Infantry Dimalulupig Troopers in Claveria, Misamis Oriental, were given a decent and proper turn-over to each family on March 20, 2022, at Zone 4, Brgy Lingangao, Balingasag Mis Or.

The encounter that occurred in the hinterlands of Barangay Plaridel, Claveria, last March 18, 2022 resulted in the troops’ recovery of three high-powered firearms and the fatal deaths of Agay Taquin, alias Kerby, the Vice Commander of Platoon Falcon, SRC 1, NCMRC; Andrew Odiongan, alias Dave, the political instructor of SR SDG Eagles, SRC 1, NCMRC; and Joan Pajardo, alias Amirgo, Team Leader B of Squad 1, GF Huawei, SRC 1.

After the cadavers were identified, troops from 58IB acted quickly and informed the family members of the tragic event. They aided Elizabeth T. Guinahon, alias Kerby’s sister, and alias Amigro’s family member, in claiming the cadavers of their loved ones.

“Yet again, lives were lost in the war against the failed ideology of the Communist NPA Terrorists,” said Lt. Col. Ricky L. Canatoy, Commanding Officer of the 58th Infantry Battalion (CNTs). “I am urging all NPA members who are still hiding in the hinterlands to come down in peace, lay down their arms, and return to the folds of the law while time and opportunity still exist. Put an end to this way of life: endless suffering in vain, with little regard for your own or others’ lives. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. “

The cadavers of alias Kerby and alias Amigro were already properly buried earlier today, while the cadaver of alias Dave is currently at Ranas Funeral because authorities have yet to reach alias Dave’s family in Agusan del Norte.
