Posted to Kalinaw News (Feb 22, 2022): Wanted CTG member arrests for a murder case
CAMP MELCHOR F DELA CRUZ, Upi, Gamu, Isabela- A wanted member of the Komiteng Larangang Guerilla (KLG)-Baggas of Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee of the Communist Terrorist Group was arrested by the authorities on February 21, 2022 at Sitio Pocac, Barangay Apatan, Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
The arrested CTG member was identified as Martin “Betay” Gamay alias Hilee, a member of Squad Dos of the said group. His arrest was made possible because of the information a concerned citizen had on his whereabouts. He committed murder that led to the issuance of his warrant of arrest. He was listed number 12 in the Wanted CTG Personalities in Kalinga and was arrested by the joint forces of the 50th Infantry Battalion and Kalinga Provincial Police Office.
LtC Melanio Somera, Battalion Commander of 50IB said that Alias Hilee committed the said crimes on January 23, 2018, when his group ambushed the troops of 50IB at Sitio Matayog, Brgy Baay, Pinukpuk, Kalinga while they were conducting Focused Military Operations. “The ambush resulted in the unfortunate death of Cpl Jether A Langcay and PFC Edward M Boggat and the wounding of SSg Virgilio A Jacinto and PFC Keaven W Macaiba. With the arrest of alias Hilee, we have given partial justice for our fallen heroes.”
BGen Santiago I Enginco, Brigade Commander of 503rd Infantry Brigade said that the security forces will duly serve the justice for the victims of the CTGs’ atrocities and violence. “We will not stop until we can give justice to the victims of the CTGs. We will find you wherever you are hiding.”
Meanwhile, MGen Laurence E Mina, Commander of 5th Infantry Division, thanked the concerned citizen for giving information about the wanted CTG member. “Thank you for sharing vital information that led us to serve justice. This will serve as a warning to other CTGs. With the help of the different sectors and the community, we will make you answer for your crimes and face the full force of the law.”
Alias Hilee is now under the custody of Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
