Camp Aquino, Tarlac City – Feb 21, 2022

Combined elements of the Isabela Provincial Police Station and the 95th Infantry Battalion of the Joint Task Force Tala facilitated the voluntary surrender of three members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in the morning of February 20, 2022, at the 95IB headquarters in San Mariano, Isabela.

According to Lt. Gen. Ernesto Torres Jr., Commander of Northern Luzon Command, the surrendered personalities are remnants of the dwindling terrorist group Komiteng Probinsya (KOMPROB) Isabela, Komiteng Rehiyon Cagayan Valley (KRCV) who decided to return to the fold of the law due to the fatigue and anxiety they are feeling from fighting the lost-cause battle of the CTG.

“The surrenderees were also inspired by the relentless Community Support programs of the troops in the area,” the NoLCom Commander added.

In a statement from Joint Task Group Liberator Commander Brig. Gen. Danilo Benavides, it was revealed that based on a report submitted by 95IB Commander Lt. Col. Carlos Sangdaan Jr., the former terrorists were identified as alias “Sartay” who was a Vice Squad leader of the terror group unit, alias “Joey,” and “Deo,” both members of the said CTG.

“They also surrendered one (1) M16 Rifle bearing serial number RP 122425 (Colt Elisco) with one (1) short magazine loaded with 17 live ammunitions,” added Brig. Gen. Benavides.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Laurence Mina, Joint Task Force Tala Commander who supervises the military’s efforts that led to the recent accomplishment expressed that, “the tireless efforts of our security forces to end local communist armed conflict in their area of operations is truly commendable. I enjoin all the remaining members of the CTG to abandon their armed struggle and have a chance to start fresh through the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or ECLIP.”

Likewise, Lt. Gen. Torres reiterated his call to the remnants of the communist terrorist group and their supporters to “heed the call for peace and development of the government.”

“I am encouraging our brothers and sisters who are still under the claws of the CTGs to yield to the government and avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). With peaceful discourse, we welcome you with open arms as you signify your intention of becoming productive citizens of our country,“ echoed Lt. Gen. Torres.
