Posted to Kalinaw News (May 7, 2021): Makatao Battalion, LGU Santo Tomas and TESDA, Culminated the Joint TESDA Skills Training to IP and Members of the Communities of Santo Tomas Davao del Norte.
The 89th Infantry (Makatao) Battalion under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Donald P Gaffud and LGU Santo Tomas, DDN, in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) spearheaded the Joint Closing Ceremony of Skills Training held at Covered Court, Barangay Magwawa, Santo Tomas, DDN on May 06, 2021.
The unit witnessed the graduation rites of the 100 students together with
Hon Ernesto Evangelista, Municipal Mayor of Sto Tomas, Atty. Elisa E. Lapiña, Municipal Administrator, Ms. Arlyn Bandong, TESDA Provincial Director of DDN, Ms. Junna Arnaez, TESDA Supervising Specialist, and Hon Arnolfo E Generosa, Barangay Captain of Magwawa, Sto. Tomas, DDN who lauded the graduates as they finished their respective pieces of training.
The Joint TESDA Skills Training includes Organic Vegetable Production, Organic Chicken and Hog Raising and Photovoltaic Installation NCII.
The convergence effort of the unit, LGU and concerned government agencies is in line with the implementation of the EO70 or Whole of Nation Approach in ending local insurgency by providing livelihood assistance to improve the well-being of the IP particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
As always, Makatao Battalion is aggressive in bridging different agencies and stakeholders to the people to provide them different opportunities through livelihood projects and programs to alleviate them from poverty which is the main issue being exploited by the communist terrorist group and at the same time the eventual attainment of long-lasting peace and development in the area.
