Posted to Kalinaw News (May 6, 2021): Army recovers NPA’s stockpile of war materiel in Masbate
CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – Scarce with fighters who are now surrendering to the government, Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) is left with no other choice but to hide their remaining firearms.
With support from the local populace, NPA’s war materiel were discovered and seized by the government troops on May 5, 2021 in Palanas, Masbate. Concerned citizens reported about the firearms being kept by the communist NPA terrorists in the hinterlands of Barangay San Isidro.
This prompted the elements of 2nd Infantry Battalion (2IB) to conduct security operations led to the discovery and capture of one caliber .38 revolver, three (3) laptops, and terroristic propaganda materials and six sacks of voluminous documents.
Lt. Col. Siegfried Felipe Awichen, Commander 2IB, expressed his gratitude to the locals for giving them timely information significant to the success of the Army’s operations.
According to Col. Aldwine Almase, Commander 903rd Infantry Brigade, the defeat of NPA in Masbate is evident in the furious Masbateños who loathe the desperate, treacherous and terroristic acts of communist NPA terrorists. Just this May 1, two civilians were killed while five were injured in a roadside explosion in Uson while a government employee was also hurt in another incident in Milagros town On April 23.
Furthermore, Maj. Gen. Henry A. Robinson Jr., Commander, Joint Task Force – Bicolandia (JTFB) commended the 2IB for sustaining the gains of the government in the island province. “The extensive operations and effective interoperability of our unit and the PNP in the province along with the collaborative efforts of other government agencies, LGUs and the support from the people are the reasons behind these success operation.”
