Posted to Kalinaw News (May 6, 2021): 10th Civil-Military Operations Battalion Participates in Peace rally held in Maco, Davao de Oro
San Agustin, Tagum City – 10th Civil-Military Operations Battalion (10CMOBN) participated in the success of peace rally joined by 116 former members of Underground Mass Organizations (UGMOs) from the 7 barangays of Maco, Davao de Oro held at Barangay Libay-libay, Maco, Davao de Oro on May 5, 2021.
With the theme, “Pakighinabi sa Katawhan aron sa Panaghiusa Alang sa Malungtarong Kalinaw”, it aims to spread awareness on the social protection programs of local government unit and line agencies. The participants denounced their allegiance to the terrorist group and call for genuine peace.
Meanwhile, 10CMOBn conducted series of lectures to the participants orienting them of CPP-NPA Terrorists efforts in establishing UGMO and recruiting armed fighter. The participants, then, realized that they risked their lives with the false ideologies exploited by the terrorists.
Tatay Rene, a former organizer shared how he was convinced to go back to the fold of law. “Their [Army] support for the civilians in Brgy Panangan has no limits. What really made us to think twice (in supporting CPP-NPA) is their CSP, Community Support Program. It touches our hearts and eventually it made us asked ourselves ‘Why don’t we support this program?’,” he said in vernacular.
Lt. Col. Isagani Nato, Commander, 10CMO Battalion commend the troops in their active participation in the peace-building efforts of the government. He also stressed the importance of the role of CMO in accomplishing the objectives of the division campaign.
The peace rally is part of the 3-Day Live-In Seminar conducted by 28th Infantry ‘Kamagong’ Battalion under the 1001st Infantry ‘Pag-asa’ Brigade in collaboration with Local Government Unit of Maco and other government agencies.
