MAGPET, COTABATO – Youth For Peace Movement (YFPM) – Tanan Lihok Batan-on Og Sundalo “TALBOS” in partnership with the Provincial Government Unit of Cotabato, Municipal Local Government Unit of Pres Roxas and Army’s 72nd Infantry “Gabay” Battalion initiated and facilitated the first Youth Leadership Summit 2021 to the 9 different barangays of Upper Pres Roxas, North Cotabato that commenced last January 15 to 17, 2021 held at Ilustre Elementary School.

The said activity with the theme “Leadership Competencies: Empowering Young Mind for a Better and Peaceful Tomorrow” aims to empower the role of youth as nation builders, strengthen camaraderie among participants and develop leadership potentials and good citizenship. It aims to educate the youth a wider perspective on the current issues that hinder peace, progress, and acceptance of individual’s responsibility. It was steered thru series of lectures, discussions, group/team building activities and workshops. The discussions focused on youth infiltration and recruitment of the Communist Terrorist Groups among the youth. One of the highlights in the summit was the “Gabi ng Kultura” which gives every individual a freedom to express and share their talents

The summit was attended and graced by Hon. Johanna Claire Daquipil, SK Federation Chairman; Efren Jay Labawan, YFPM- Pres Roxas; Hon. Helen Gasita, Brgy Chairman of Brgy Ilustre; Hon. Elinito Cuzon, Municipal Councilor, Pres Roxas; Col Ted Dumosmog, Deputy Bde Commander, 1002nd Bde; LTC Rey T Alvarado, Commanding Officer, 72IB; Personnel and staffs from PLGU, MLGU and BLGU; and Troops and Officers of 72IB.

“This is the first time that we experienced an activity involving our youth here in upper roxas and we know that this is just the beginning. We are very much fortunate that our LGU is very active in supporting this activity. Rest assured that we will continue to support and give our full cooperation to all the upcoming activities involving our youth. Lets help one another in maintaining the peace and order not in our Municipality, but in whole North Cotabato.” Hon. Johanna Daquipil said in her message.

In response, LTC Rey T Alvarado expressed his utmost gratitude to everyone who made the activity possible. He assured that 72Ib will continue to collaborate with the different government and non government agencies to deliver the interventions, programs and projects of the government intended for the Cotabateños especially to the youth sector.
