Camp Hernandez, Dingle, Iloilo – A former barangay chairman who is also a member of Milisya ng Bayan, an NPA local military unit, surrendered to the army stationed in Brgy Libot, Calinog, Iloilo on Monday, January 18, 2021.

Through the radio program of 100.1 K3 FM, a local radio broadcasting system managed by the Civil Military Operations Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Division, a certain alias SAM voluntarily surrendered to the station bringing with him several firearms with ammunition.

He claimed that he was a member of Milisya ng Bayan in Brgy Ginbunyogan, Calinog, Iloilo. He was received by 12th Infantry Battalion for proper documentation and disposition of Firearms.
As per army record, as of January 1, 2021 to this date, he is the 310th NPA supporter who surrendered in Panay Island.

He surrendered three (3) firearms including one (1) .38 Magnum caliber with 5 ammunitions; one (1) homemade Rambo type shotgun with 5 ammo and magazine; and one (1) homemade firearm with seven (7) M16 ammo and magazine.

Colonel Orlando Edralin, the Officer-in-charge of the 301st Infantry Brigade said that “The people are now more discerning and are now able to distinguish the truth from the lies. They have already awakened and have realized that the NPAs’ ideologies are only based on deception and are used only to further their own vested interests”.

He re-echoed the persistent call of the Army in Panay to the remaining members and
supporters of the NPA to abandon the group’s violent ways. “We call on our other brothers and sisters who are still supporting NPA’s senseless armed struggle to take a cue from our kababayans who are now living a normal and peaceful life. Cooperating with the terrorist is a betrayal not only to the government but also to your community and your own family”.
