Madrid, Surigao del Sur–The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur, the 36th Infantry (Valor) Battalion and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in coordination with the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) Surigao del Sur conducted the Launching of Skills, Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programs for the Indigenous People and local populace of Carmen held at covered court, Brgy Hinapuyan, Carmen, Surigao del Sur Thursday, August 27.
The activity was attended by the Provincial and Local Government of SDS and Carmen in bringing the government services particularly to the residents of So.Tabinas and their established organization the Nagkahiusang Katawhang Mag-uuma sa Tabinas (NAKAMATA). The launching was attended by two hundred (200) Indigenous people and residents of Brgy Hinapuyan, Carmen wherein various skills and livelihood were offered to the chosen beneficiaries. In addition, the office of the Governor of Surigao del Sur turned over Five hundred thousand (500,000) pesos in livelihood assistance for Brgy Hinapuyan and Tabinas Agricultural Enterprise Village.
In his message Governor Alexander ‘Ayec” Pimentel the Chairman of PRLEC,SDS expresses his gratitude to the team for initiating this activity in reaching out the far flung communities in order that the issues thrown to the government can now be resolve thru peaceful means by extending the basic services to the isolated areas of the province. He further stressed out and calls the remaining CNTs to return to the folds of the law and join the government in addressing these concerns for the good of the people and the community.
Likewise, he is calling the members of the IP communities and the tribal leaders to help them convince their relatives who are still in the underground movement to live in peace and live a normal life with their families. Said event was also attended by Hon. Jane V. Plaza, Municipal Mayor of Carmen, DIR Julius Sol O. Jamero Provincial Director TESDA, Mr Pedrito L. Alacaba Provincial Director DILG, Mr Molie, Agustin NAKAMATA President and Hon. Adeline D. Iligan, Brgy. Captain of Hinapuyan and other line government agencies of the province.
In his statement, Lt. Col. Jezreel J. Diagmel Philippine Army, Commanding Officer of 36IB said the implementation of EO-70 is very vital in measuring the sincerity and dedication of the local government in extending the delivery of basic services to their constituents in this part of the province. The CNTs cannot survive without the support of the people particularly the IP thus, this is now the time to cut it off so that peace and development can now be enjoy by the people of Carmen and this province.
Meanwhile, the new set of officers of NAKAMATA (Nagkahiusang Katawhang Mag-uuma sa Tabinas) took their oath and pledge their full support on the launching of the Tabinas Agricultural Enterprise Village in extending their commitment and providing their residents the much needed skills thru PRLEC in terms of putting up a business enterprise and availability of facilities and equipment in accordance with their project that ensembles to their interest and needs. Further, Mayor Jane V. Plaza welcomes this endeavour and narrated the journey of this village (Bulihanan Tu abot Kanit Tabinas) towards peace and sustainable development.
