DAVAO DE ORO, August 26 (PIA) - Concerned citizens tipped off the military to unearth improvised explosive devices in different sites in Pantukan.

The latest was on August 20 at Sitio Lusang, Barangay Napnapan, where soldiers of the 28th Infantry Battalion unburied a five-kilo IED that was placed in a nylon sack.

According to the report, the concerned citizen saw a person, who is allegedly a member of the mass base movement of the New People’s Army, buried the IED.

On August 1, another concerned citizen also helped the military in unearthing a four-kilo IED at Sitio Puting Sayaw in the same barangay.

Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Banatao, commander of the 28IB, thanked the concerned citizens for alerting the military on the locations of the bombs.

Banatao stressed that citizens now are more cooperative to the government following the declaration of persona non grata in the municipality against the Communist Party of the Philippines – New Peoples Army – National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

He added that the citizens are also fed up with the deception of the rebel group, who only brought misinformation and chaos to the communities.

The battalion commander encouraged still the public to provide them with information on the presence of the rebel group, or the location of bombs, arms, and camps through texting 0917-30333107. (PIA11, Michael Uy)
