The 11th Infantry (Alakdan) Division tendered a welcome ceremony to the newly organized 15th Forward Service Support Unit (15th FSSU) as they arrived at Headquarters 11th Infantry Division, Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista in Brgy. Busbus, Jolo, Sulu on July 22, 2020.
The 15th FSSU, under its first Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Cyril P. Dawaten PA, was activated in lieu of the 9th FSSU’s Forward Service Support Team-Jolo. Its activation ensures that the Philippine Army’s capability in providing support to the administrative and operational requirements of its units particularly in Sulu is enhanced.
The 15th FSSU will specifically respond to the logistical and support services of 11th Infantry Division and other Army units in Sulu. At the same time, it will provide general support and combat service support to said units. It plays a critical role in securing the backdoor regions of the country against the Abu Sayyaf Group and other outlaws.
Major General Corleto S. Vinluan Jr. PA, Commander of Joint Task Force Sulu and 11th Infantry Division acknowledged the efforts of the Team Alakdan for making the 15th FSSU deployment possible and envisioned for the newly received unit’s support and full efforts. “The 11th Infantry Division welcomes you (15th FSSU) here in Sulu. Your presence will surely be of help in our mission, making us more able and timely in doing our task in support to the overall campaign. I wish you the best in this new journey and may you enjoy your stay as part of the team,” he said.
