Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – With the relentless effort of the 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion, and the Aurora Police Provincial Office (APPO) to neutralize the NPA bandit’s Komiteng Larangan Gerilya (KLG) Sierra Madre, a food cache was discovered by the combined Army and PNP operating troops in an abandoned NPA lair at Barangay Punglo, Maria Aurora, Aurora on June 21, 2020.
Recovered in the area were 2 containers of rice and 1 container of sugar, believed to be buried by the members of KLG Sierra Madre for emergency purposes.
On May 30, 2020, the unit also discovered an abandoned NPA lair at Barangay Diaat, Maria Aurora and recovered 2 containers with rice believed buried by the same group of bandits.
“I have directed all unit commanders to sustain our operational gains, in close collaboration with the PNP, and that all our efforts should be in line with the parameters and procedures necessary to clear the area from NPA influence,” said Colonel Andrew D. Costelo, Commander of thw 703rd Infantry (Agila) Brigade. He further expressed his gratitude to the 91IB and APPO for their non-stop effort to neutralize the remnants of KLG Sierra Madre.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P. Rubio, Commanding Officer of the 91IB, lauded the efforts of his troops and APPO for the successful conduct of the operation. “The sustained conduct of combat operations and the recovery of NPA food cache will significantly affect their morale and effectiveness and will force them to surrender,” Lt. Col. Rubio said.
