The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has utilized its 355th Aviation Engineering Wing in the ongoing campaign against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) by building seven emergency quarantine facilities (EQFs) in Metro Manila and several areas in Luzon.

In a statement late Wednesday, Major Aristides Galang, PAF spokesperson, said the 355tth Engineering Aviation Wing was aided in this initiative by the WTA Architecture and Design Studio and other stakeholders.

He added that the PAF and its partners started the construction of these EQFs last March 30. Galang said the completed EQFs are located in the following facilities:

-15-bed capacity EQF at Armed Forces of the Philippines Health Service Command, V-Luna, Quezon City (March 30 – April 22);

-16-bed capacity EQF at Fernando Air Base Hospital in Lipa City, Batangas (April 6 – 13);

-15-bed capacity EQF at Bulacan Medical Center in Malolos, Bulacan (April 7 – 13);

-Seven-bed capacity EQF at Sacred Heart Hospital in Malolos, Bulacan (April 7 – 13);

Galang said these EQFs were made of good lumber, polypropylene sheet, and roof insulator.

"It (is) composed of doctors’ and nurses’ lounge, disinfection and sanitation area, bathrooms, and shower room(s)," he added.

Galang said these EQF are designed to help decongest hospitals and accommodate suspected and probable cases of Covid-19 mass testing. Beneficiary hospitals will serve as the caretakers of the said facility, he added.

"The prompt construction of EQF serves as one of the PAF's main efforts in support of the whole-of-nation approach in the fight against Covid-19. The dedication and skills of the PAF personnel is a commitment to protect our fellow countrymen from the threat of the unseen enemy," Galang said.
