Kalinaw News: Two Brothers surrenders, reunites in Bukidnon

Posted to Kalinaw News (Apr 30, 2020): Two Brothers surrenders, reunites in Bukidnon (By 4th Infantry Battalion)



IMPASUGONG, BUKIDNON – Two members of the Communist New People’s Army Terrorists (CNTs) who are also brothers were reunited as they voluntarily surrendered to the 8th Infantry (Dependable) Battalion, Impasugong, Bukidnon on April 28, 2020.

The two brothers, identified as aka Joey and aka Erik, surrendered with their wives who are also members of the CNT. Tired, weary, hungry, and lonely best describe the plight of these former rebels during their time with the armed-terrorist group. To put an end to their useless struggle, they immediately escaped from and abandoned the terrorist group and ran until they got home.

@Erik, 31 years old, surrendered with his wife aka Nica, 22 years old, both from HQF Neo, North Central Mindanao Command (NCMRC) bringing along with them one (1) Cal. 45 (Colt M1911A1) and one (1) Homemade Shotgun. He said “Puno mi sa kakapoy ug kagutom sa among kahimtang sa kalasangan. Igo lang kami gipahimuslan samtang ang mga Commander nagpahayahay lang sa ilang kinabuhi.” (We are tired, weary, and hungry living in the mountains. They exploited us while our commanders live in luxury.)

On the otherhand, @Joey, 43 years old surrendered with his wife aka Joy-joy, 42 years old, both from Guerilla Front 89 (GF89) of NCMRC. In his statement, “Dili nako ma agwanta ang kamingaw nako sa akoang mga anak. Nagmahay ko sa pag-uban sa mga terroristang NPA napasagdan nako akoang mga anak sa ilang mga kaugmaon. Nagpasalamat ko na akong igsoong lalaki ni surrender na sa gobyerno, karun pariha nami manginabuhi ug hapsay.” (I am really longing for my children. I regret joining NPA terrorist, because I neglected the future of my children. I am thankful that my brother also surrendered to the government both of us will live peacefully.)

Lieutenant Colonel Edgardo V Talaroc Jr, Commanding Officer of the 8th Infantry (Dependable) Battalion expressed his gratitude as the former rebels laid down their firearms and surrendered to the government. He said “We are grateful that the two brothers were reunited. We again call on the remaining members of the CNTs to go down and return to the government to live peacefully together with your families.”

The said former rebels will be enrolled in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) to avail of the benefits offered by the government that will help them go back to the mainstream society.

“To the people of Impasugong, let us strictly follow the preventive measures provided by the DOH. Likewise, we are hoping for your full cooperation and utmost understanding for whatever inconvenience these preventive actions may cause”. Talaroc added.
