Posted to Kalinaw News (Apr 30, 2020): 9 NPA Supporters Pledge Loyalty to the Government (By 7th Infantry Division)

Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – Enlightened on the government’s sincere desire to help the people, especially the underprivilege, nine (9) NPA mass supporters withdrew their support from the said terror group and pledged their loyalty to the government on April 29, 2020 through the joint efforts of the 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion (91IB) and the Municipal Police Station (MPS) of Maria Aurora, Aurora.

These contacts & couriers who withdrew their support from NPA bandits are local residents of Barangay Diaat of Maria Aurora, Aurora. Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P. Rubio, the 91IB Acting Commanding Officer, led the former NPA supporters in reciting the pledge of loyalty and support to the government.

Lieutenant Colonel Rubio cited the encouragement and support of the local government unit (LGU) of Maria Aurora to the thrust of his unit to reach out to the former NPA supporters which proved to be the deciding factor to the decisions of the former NPA supporters to return to the folds of the law.

The ceremony was witnessed by barangay officials led by Barangay Kagawad Helen Prado who was so appreciative of the effort of the PNP and the Army in reaching out to the former NPA supporters. “Naisip na nila na walang patutunguhan ang suportang ibinibigay nila sa mga bandidong NPA. At nalaman nila na sila ay ginagamit lamang ng mga bandido para maisulong ang kanilang armadong pakikibaka,” Lieutenant Colonel Rubio explained.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division, Brigadier General Alfredo V. Rosario Jr, upon receiving report on the withdrawal of support by the former NPA supporters, said that the people now see the true nature of the NPA. “Reports of people going back to the folds of the government makes me happy, as it is the right thing to do. This development will help us to instead focus our attention on how to help in containing the COVID-19 pandemic.”
