BALER, Aurora – In line with the guidance of Higher Headquarters to dismantle the KomitengLarangang Guerilla (KLG) Sierra Madre, the Army’s 91st Infantry (SINAGTALA) Battalion and Philippine National Police of the province of Aurora and Nueva Ecija continue to intensify its focused military operations in the hinterlands of Aurora Province that resulted to the discovery of war materials, ammunitions and food cache of the enemy of the government on March 6 and 7, 2020 in the hinterlands of SitioDayap, Barangay Punglo, Maria Aurora, Aurora.

LTC REANDREW P RUBIO INF (GSC) PA, Acting Commanding Officer of 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion, Philippine Army said that in response to the information given by the former rebels, joint operating troops under his supervision led by army 1LT BETHOVEN B CABANLIT (INF) PA, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office led by Police Senior Master Sgt. Ryan Brillantes under the supervision of Police Lt. Col. Dennis C. Wenceslao and 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of Aurora provincial police office led by Police Captain Arnold Gabrillo under the supervision of Police Col. Raul Siriban conducted combat strike operations in the said hinterland that lead to the discovery of abandoned NPA lairs and food cache (2 containers of rice approximately 50 kilos) on Friday March 6, 2020 around 3:30p.m..

The said lair can accommodate more or less 50 persons and believed to have been abandoned five (5) months ago.

On the following day (March 7, 2020) the government troops continuously scouring and conducting clearing operations in the said area which resulted to the discovery of two (2) drums containing 16 short magazines for M16, 7 long magazines for M16, 6 magazines for AK47, 6 bandoleers, and 2 back packs.

“The recovered foods, ammunitions and war materials belong to KLG Sierra Madre of NPA members will eventually crack down their operations,” he said.

LTC RUBIO commended the effort of the former rebels for providing relevant information that led to the recovery of the said war materials.

He further stressed that due to the effective implementation of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF ELCAC), the insurgency in Aurora province is already insignificant as manifested by this particular incident and the influx of surrenderees both regular NPA members and supporters/contacts.

“The 91st IB in partnership with the local and national government agencies and different stakeholders will continue to perform its mandate in conducting peace and security operations in pursuit to lasting peace and development in the area,” LTC RUBIO said.

COL ANDREW D COSTELO INF (GSC) PA, Commander, 703rd Infantry (Agila) Brigade, 7ID, PA urged the SINAGTALA troopers to sustain the momentum with an end view of dismantling the KLG Sierra Madre.
