CAMP O’DONNELL, Tarlac -- Philippine Army has re-designated the Mechanized Infantry Division to Armor Division (AD).
“This is the realization of visions of the past and present commanders and Armed Forces of the Philippines as a whole,” Commander Major General Robert Dauz said during AD’s 43rd Founding Anniversary Celebration.
He cited that armor is defined as combined arms organization composed of tanks, cavalry and mechanized infantry.
Dauz stated that the unit reverted to the moniker “Pambato” which was first used in 1976 when the division was then called as Philippine Army Light Armor Regiment.
“The Armor family is a combination of strength and flexibility ready to undertake anything that lies ahead of them. Team Armor is adaptive to whatever scenario in other words, we bend but we do not break,” he added.
For his part, Army Commanding General Lieutenant General Macairog Alberto lauded the distinct service and several milestones of the division.
“As the organization meets transformation, the reliability and effectiveness of this unit will be one of the prominent capabilities of a world-class Army,” he said.
“For all that you have done, I commend you for the noteworthy performance that has extremely contributed to the fulfillment of the our overall mission and vision,” he furthered.
This year’s anniversary celebration is anchored on the theme “Team Armor: Pambato ng Mamamayan Tungo sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran.” (CLJD/TJBM PIA 3)
