Loose firearms handed-over to troops in Tawi-Tawi

Posted to the Western Mindanao Command (WESTMINCOM) Website (Sep 24, 2019): Loose firearms handed-over to troops in Tawi-Tawi

As the Western Mindanao Command continue to support the government’s campaign to eliminate and recover loose firearms, one shotgun (Springfield) with one ammunition, and one caliber 38 were handed-over to the troops of the Marine Battalion Landing Team-6 in Barangay Umus Mataha, Mapun, Tawi-Tawi on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

Said firearms were voluntarily surrendered by members of the Moro National Liberation Front led by Abujihad Lim, a.k.a Clarence.

“The surrender of fire arms was in connection with the campaign against loose fire arms under comprehensive law on fire arms and ammunition or the RA 10591,” said Brigadier General Camilo Balutan, Commander of the Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi.

“This endeavor was made possible through the continuous collaboration of our troops and the local chief executives of Mapun,” Brig. Gen. Balutan added.

Surrendered firearms were brought to the 6th Marine Company in Barangay Mahalu, same municipality for documentation and proper disposition.

“We urge other officials and residents to be one with us in freeing the communities from these menacing tools of violence,” said Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, Commander of the Western Mindanao Command.

“Let us follow the good example of those who already handed-over their undocumented firearms and have shown their commitment to support our peace campaign,” Lt. Gen. Sobejana added.
