CAMP MONTECLARO, Miag-ao, Iloilo – The Philippine Army looks forward to more localities to stand up against the terrorists.
This came after six municipalities in Antique province have declared the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) terrorists as persona non grata.
These include the towns of Anini-y, Belison, Libertad, Culasi, San Jose, and Laua-an.
61st Infantry Battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Joel Benedict Batara lauded this move of the local government units as an expression of their desire to have a communist-free community.
Officials and other stakeholders from the six municipalities have passed their respective resolution that condemned the terroristic activities of the CPP-NPA terrorists, thus, declaring them unwelcome and unacceptable in the society.
“We hope that more LGUs will finally recognize the need to take similar actions against the CPP-NPA terrorist and its front organizations and join the Whole-of-Nation approach to completely end the communist armed conflict,” Batara said.
He said that the signing the resolution was a bold move against the communist-terrorists, thus, “I thank and laud the local officials and the community for standing up against the CPP-NPA terrorist.”
Batara likewise encouraged other barangays and municipalities in Antique to take a strong stand against the CPP-NPA terrorist to prevent the group from conducting recruitment, extortion and casting more threats in their communities. (JBG/1Lt Hazel Joy Durotan)
