AFP-CRS: Military visits far-flung MILF community to celebrate Eid'l Adha

Brigadier General Romeo S Brawner AFP, Commander 103rd Inf Bde led the military in celebrating the second day of Eid'l Adha with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) and the MILF Communities in Sultan Dumalondong and Butig, Lanao del Sur afternoon of 12 August 2019.

Brig. Gen. Brawner reflected on the MILF community's celebration of the Feast of Sacrifice.

OPAPP Executive Director Gloria J Mercado led the Peacemisan wherein180 Maranaos participated to discuss and address the issues within their community.

The 12th Civil-Military Operations Battalion's Hijab Troopers assisted the OPAPP in giving away 120 school bags to the mothers who participated in the Peacemisan.

On the other hand, Hijab Troopers also assisted the Youth Leaders in the conduct of Kids for Peace wherein 389 children learned about respect, peace, and unity. They were also fed a hearty meal and given a packed snack. At the end of the session, school bags from OPAPP were given away. Each bag contained one ballpen, one pencil, one pencil case, one notebook, and one tumbler.

The other significant personalities who facilitated the activities are as follows: Lieutenant Colonel Edgar Villanueva, Commanding Officer 49th Infantry Battalion; Lieutenant Colonel Andres A Soriano, Commanding Officer, 12CMOBn; Joint Task Force - Tabang led by Captain Ron JR T Villarosa; Local Government Unit lead by Hon. Dimnatang BL Pansare, Municipal Mayor of Butig; Municipal Butig Police Office led by Police Captain Dante Gatasi. Moro Islamic Liberation Front led by Inner Guard Base Command Commander Hanape A Adil; Marawi Youth Leaders led by Ayah D Cali; Municipality of Tugaya Youth Leader led by Admin B Abdullah;

The military have developed a strong rapport with the Maranaos in Lanao del Sur since the Marawi Siege. They have always shown support to our Muslim Brothers and Sisters.
The AFP will continue to conduct Conflict-Sensitive and Peace-Building programs to foster an environment that is conducive to peace.
