In a statement on Saturday, Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder and National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) chief political consultant Sison said the US does not need to fire the "first shot" against China, as Duterte had dared mighty America to do, given that Uncle Sam could just stage a coup against the Philippine president.
Sison said the US could instruct its following within the Philippine security forces to have Duterte taken into custody as a traitor and have Vice-President Leni Robredo installed as the successor.
But, Panelo told GMA News on Sunday that Joma’s claims are just wishful thinking from, he said, a washed-up revolutionary leader.
“Wishful thinking from an old, tired, failed and arm chair revolutionary,” Panelo told GMA News Online via text message.
Panelo said the CPP-NDFP leader is ‘living in exile and in comfort, while his comrades are in the hills and mountains fighting and struggling.’
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) earlier assured the people there will be no coup d'etatagainst the Duterte administration.
