From Kalinaw News (Jun 10, 2019): Army troopers seized arm cache in Maguindanao



CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao – Troops of 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion seized an arm cache during the conduct of combat clearing operation in Brgy Kauran, Ampatuan, Maguindanao on June 9, 2019 at around 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon.

Acted in a report from concern resident of Brgy Kauran of said town, troops of Mechanized were able to seized two US M16A1 rifles, one US M16A1 with M203 GL, two US M14 rifles, one M79 GL, ten long M16 Magazines, ten short M16 Magazines, sixteen long M14 Magazines, more or less 800 round of 5.56mm ammunitions, more or less 500 rounds of 7.62 ammunitions and 7 bandoliers.

With a strong determination and courage, troops of Mechanized were able to seize the assorted firearms in an intense clearing operation in the safe houses owned by certain Nords Plantis and Guialil Mohamad Dalundong, who are now hiding in the remote areas of Ampatuan.

“The pro-active measures we have been conducting through clearing operation with the help of the community pre-empted terroristic activities of criminals and sustain our campaign against proliferation of loose firearms,” said Ltc Alvin G. Iyog, Commanding Officer, 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion.

“The seized of assorted high powered firearms is a manifestation of the strong support of the local community to the military in drive against criminality and loose firearms,” said Col Efren P. Baluyot, 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander.

“Your accomplishments gave a sense of confidence and encouragement to sustain our commitment to ensure the safety and security of the people in Central Mindanao,” said Major General Cirilito E. Sobejana, Commander 6th Infantry Division.

The support of the community by providing significant information was also recognized by the Commander.
