ILIGAN CITY -- The 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade joined the different national line agencies in region 10 in implementing Executive Order (EO) No. 70 or Whole-of-Nation approach to put an end to local communist armed conflict in Mindanao.
A one-day activity dubbed Provincial Cascading and Validation of Needs and Programs, Projects and Activities Workshop for Executive Order (EO) No. 70 and the Convergence Areas for Peace and Development (CAPDev) was done at Horizons Resort, Municipality of Baroy, Lanao del Norte.
More than 120 barangay captains from Lanao del Norte and Iligan attended the event which aimed to orient and increase awareness of the local stakeholders on EO 70 and enlist commitment and support of the local government units (LGUs).
Present during the activity were lead agencies in the implementation of EO 70: National Economic and Development Authority- region 10 (NEDA10); 4th Infantry Division, 1st Infantry Division Philippine Army; National Intelligence Coordinating Agency; provincial government of Lanao del Norte, Baroy municipal government and other heads of agencies. The CAPDev was introduced to institutionalize “whole of nation approach” through focused, coordinated and sustained delivery of basic services in poor, conflict-affected and geographically isolated and disadvantage areas.
As an army unit commander who has operational jurisdiction over Lanao del Norte and Iligan City, BGen Ezra James P Enriquez conveyed his sincere commitment and support for the implementation of EO 70 in the province.
