From the Sun Star-Davao (Sep 23): Military seizes NPA arms cache in Davao City
The government troops have discovered arms cache allegedly owned by the communist New People’s Army (NPA) in Davao City, the Philippine Army said.
The discovery of weapons by the soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Battalion (IB) at Sitio Cabarisan, Barangay Sibulan, Toril District Friday, September 21, came a week after an encounter in the area where a high-ranking rebel was killed.
The arms cache that was discovered consists of M16 rifles, one AK47 rifle, one M653 rifle, one M203 grenade launcher, pieces of ammunition and two bandoleers.
“We appreciate the concern of our people particularly in Toril District, let us continue to support each other as we continue to sustain the gains of our concerted peace and security effort. With our collective actions and continuous vigilance, we can totally rid Davao City against criminals and terrorists,” said Lt. Col. Oscar Partuza, battalion commander of the 3rd IB.
