From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 17): Indigenous scholars, rebel returnees in Pampanga get cash assistance

The provincial government of Pampanga, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), hss provided cash assistance to 59 indigenous scholars and 39 rebel returnees in this province.

Acting Governor Dennis Pineda on Thursday said the indigenous scholars are from the towns of Floridablanca and Porac, and Mabalacat City.

Pineda said that at least 10 indigenous scholars received PHP10,000 each as assistance for their board and lodging expenses while the remaining recipients received PHP5,000 as educational assistance.

He also said that some PHP390,000 was given to the rebel returnees from the town of Sta. Ana.

The acting governor said rebel returnees could use the cash grants to start a small business with their families to augment their livelihood especially that they are now leading a new life.
