From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 17): Army, PNP hunt down suspect in murder of Gov. Mangudadatu's farm worker
Police and military forces have launched a manhunt against two men who shot dead a farm worker of Maguindanao Gov. Esmael Toto Mangudadatu in President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat Wednesday night.
Elements of President Quirino police backed by soldiers from the 33rd Infantry Battalion have put up checkpoints along major routes and interior communities of President Quirino and in the towns of Buluan and SK Pendatun, Maguindanao where the two suspects were last seen.
Police identified the victim as Ronel Ito, 39 of Barangay Tuato, President Quirino. He was a farm worker of Mangudadatu's farm.
Ito was driving a tricycle heading for Tacurong City with his wife and children when two men riding tandem on a motorbike opened fire on him. He died on the spot while his family was unharmed but horrified.
Responding policemen and military officers found eight empty shells for cal. 45 pistol.
Mangudadatu is yet to issue statement on the incident.
