Abu Sayyaf releases male captive in Jolo, Sulu

From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 16): Abu Sayyaf releases male captive in Jolo, Sulu

Due to constant military pressure, Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits released on Nov. 14 Elmer Ybañez Romoc in an undisclosed location in Jolo, Sulu province.

Western Mindanao Command spokesperson Major Filemon Tan said the victim, who was held captive by the bandits for more than three months, boarded the M/V Bounty Cruiser from Jolo and was picked up by his family and personnel of the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) in the Zamboanga City wharf around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Romoc and his son, Ricson, were abducted by members of the ASG led by Adore Abdulla and Jaber Susukan in Barangay Kulisap, Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay last Aug. 5.

Elmer was brought to the office of the AKG for medical attention and custodial debriefing.
His son, Ricson, is still in captivity.
